RE

In Religious Education at Callowell, our principal aims are to ensure all pupils:

  • Explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live.
  • Gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief.
  • Reflect on their own ideas and ways of living.
The curriculum is underpinned by three strands which are woven into every unit of work:

  • Making Sense of Beliefs - this allows children to explore religious and non-religious beliefs and concepts.
  • Making Connections - children can identify similarities and differences between the beliefs, traditions and concepts of religions that they have studied. They will begin to share their own views and identify others that they agree or disagree with.
  • Understanding the Impact - children will examine how and why people put their beliefs into action in diverse ways, within their everyday lives, within their communities and in the wider world.
